The Haltinger wine cooperative is located in one of the southernmost and warmest regions of Germany.

The wine cooperative was founded on 5 June 1936. At that time, there were 36 members and around 60,000 litres of wine were produced. In October 1959, the winegrowers from Weiler joined and red wine was also produced for the first time. In 1970, several winegrowers from Tüllingen joined the wine cooperative. In 2018, the area was expanded and since then, grapes from a winegrower with locations on the Römerberg in Badenweiler have also been processed. Today, a total of around 55 hectares of wine are grown, the largest part of which is formed by the Haltinger Stiege (33.5 ha), followed by the Weiler Schlipf (6.5 ha), Badenweiler Römerberg (10 ha) and Tüllinger Sonnenbrunnen (1.5 ha), Ötlinger Sonnhole (1.5 ha) and 2 ha from other locations.

The main grape variety is Gutedel, accounting for 50 percent of the area, followed by Pinot Noir (28 percent) and the varieties Müller-Thurgau, Ruländer, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Haltinger's organic wines thrive on the southernmost slopes of Germany, in the tri-border area of Germany, France (Alsace) and Switzerland, on the Rhine knee near Basel. Winegrower Hans-Jörg Sprich is the only member of the cooperative that works organically and cultivates five hectares of vineyards according to the ECOVIN guidelines for organic viticulture. The other members cultivate their 50 hectares of vineyards according to environmentally friendly standards.
